'Release additional water for Adi Perukku'

Following representations from the public living along the Cauvery river in the State, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday ordered release of an additional 3,000 cusecs of water from Mettur dam from July 27 to August 2, 2013, for the 3,000 cusecs. This will be in addition to 3,000 cusecs of drinking water being released.

Adi Perukku festival is an occasion to offer prayers to Mother Cauvery for a good harvest in the current season and is celebrated with much fervour.
