Goondas act slapped on PMK cadre

A 50-year-old PMK party cadre was detained under the Goondas Act on Monday for pelting stones and damaging public properties during the unrest following the arrest of their party leader Dr S Ramadoss a month ago.

According to police officials, N Indiran of Vedal village in Arakkonam Taluk was arrested in the first week of May in connection with stone pelting incidents in and around Vedal village. The police had registered a case against him under various sections of IPC and he had been remanded to the Vellore Central Prison.

On Monday, the police detained him under the Goondas Act after obtaining orders from Collector P Sankar.

The detention orders were served to Indiran during the late hours of Monday.
