Jaya opens 163 vet dispensaries in state

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has inaugurated 163 veterinary dispensaries set up across Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 43.45 crore, new buildings for two animal disease intelligence units and one frozen semen bank. 

Inaugurated through video conferencing at the Secretariat on November 6, the new dispensaries would cater to the medial needs of over 20 lakh cattlestock.

A new building for a veterinary dispensary at Kattumannarkoil built at a cost of Rs 26.66 lakh was also declared open.

The number of dispensaries in each of the districts opened by the Chief Minister is as follows: Ariyalur (2), Coimbatore (2), Cuddalore (21), Dharmapuri (9), Dindigul (3), Erode (10), Kancheepuram (2), Kanyakumari (6), Karur (1), Krishnagiri (9), Madurai (6), Nagapattinam (3), Namakkal (1), Pudukottai (8), Ramanathapuram (2), Sivaganga (5), Thanjavur (10), Theni (6), Tiruvallur (7), Tiruvannamalai (11), Tiruvarur (2), Tuticorin (8), Tirupur (4), Tiruchy (12), Virudhunagar (8) and Vellore (6).
