Express News Service

COIMBATORE: A Rajini fan, who went to watch his favourite actor’s latest flick ‘Lingaa’ died at the cinema due to illness here on Thursday.

Rajendran (52), a resident of Perur Chettipalayam had been suffering from chronic kidney disease. He was advised by doctors to periodically undergo check-ups as his kidneys were failing.

After returning home from his routine medical check-up, Rajendran went to watch the film at Shanthi Theatre, opposite Coimbatore Railway junction, without informing his wife Vasanthagokilam or any of his relatives, who had earlier objected to his desire to watch the film.

After the screening of the film, the sweeper found that Rajendran hadn’t left his seat. When the cinema employees approached him, they realised he was already dead. The body was sent for an autopsy and doctors suspect that he might have died due to kidney-related ailment. Rumour spread that the deceased had escaped from the Hospital to watch the Rajini-starrer, but was eventually quashed.
