Businessman from Chennai Among 3 Killed in Accident

A 49-year-old businessman from Chennai, his wife and their maid servant were killed and two others sustained serious injuries when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary tipper lorry near Kaveripakkam during the early hours of Tuesday.

R Nagapusanam, a resident of Valasaravakkam in Chennai, and his wife Monisa died on the spot while the servant Lakshmi succumbed to injuries on the way to the Government General Hospital, Chennai. The car driver Kannayuram and Nagapusanam’s sister were hospitalised. The accident took place at around 6.45 am, a few metres away from the bus stand at Perumpullipakkam near Kaveripakkam, said Arul, Inspector of Police of Kaveripakkam Station.

The police officer said Nagapusanam was taking his wife to Andhra Pradesh for treatment for an ailment. His sister and the servant accompanied them to take care of Monisa. The car driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the lorry. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
