CHENNAI: Rituals are set to begin on June 5 at the Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam for its ‘mahasamprokshanam’. The cleansing ritual has been ordered by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at a cost of `10.45 crore. It was during the previous AIADMK regime in 2001 that the ritual was last performed at the historic temple.

A statement from the HR & CE department said the rituals for the ‘mahasamprokshanam’ would begin with a ‘sudarshana homam’ between 7.30 am and 8.30 am on June 5, at the 1000-pillared mandapam.
