DMK Flays UT Govt for Following CBSE Pattern

Express News Service

PUDUCHERRY: The local unit of the DMK has criticised the territorial administration for introducing CBSE pattern in all government schools in the Union Territory and sought its withdrawal.

In a statement here, Puducherry DMK convenor Dr M A S Subramanian said the CBSE system would not augur well for the students of the Union Territory and would mark the end of Tamil education.

“In case the government decides to have a three-language formula, it will be an additional burden on the students. Besides, all students will not be able to cope up with the high standard of the CBSE pattern,” Subramanian added.

The government should implement Samacheer Kalvi, Tamil Nadu’s Uniform System of School Education, in Puducherry and Karaikal regions. While Tamil would suffice for Puducherry, English would be the communication language outside the UT, he said.

He suggested that the government concentrate on enhancing the standard of education by ensuring quality teaching and filling up all vacant teacher posts.
