RAMANATHAPURAM:  A pregnant woman from a village here has urged the government to rescue her husband from the strife-torn Iraq, where he had gone to work as a construction labourer four months ago.

Gokila of Parukkaikudi submitted a petition to the Collector on Friday. According to reports, nearly 40 Indians have been abducted by insurgents at Mosul in Iraq.  From Ramanathapuram district, Anandhan of Parukkaikudi village and Nathan of Saveriarpattinam had left for Iraq. His phone has been switched off for the past few days. Worried by this, his family as well as Nathan’s family has urged the government to take steps to bring them back home.
