Udayakumar Finally Dons an AAP Cap

Express News Service

People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) coordinator S P Udayakumar on Friday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at Idinthakarai near Koodankulam. He said women would spearhead the anti-Koodankulam protest.

PMANE has been spearheading the protest against the Koodankulam nuclear plant at Idinthakarai for over 925 days.

Udayakumar had recently indicated that he would enter politics by joining the AAP. At a function held at the coastal village on Friday, Udayakumar joined the party in the presence of the party’s Tamil Nadu campaign committee chief David Barun Kumar, organiser Ramesh and former judge Xavier.

While M P Jesurajan and Peter Milton were among the other prominent anti-nuclear activists who joined the party, two other top PMANE leaders — Pushparayan and Mugilan — did not join the party.
