DMK's founder C N Annadurai will be "fighting" the general elections, as the party will be fielding a person with an identical name and initials in Tamil Nadu.

Party president M Karunanidhi Monday named 41-year-old commerce graduate and businessman C.N. Annadurai as its candidate from the Tiruvannamalai constituency.

"This is the first time a person with identical name of the party founder is being fielded in the electoral fray," a senior DMK functionary told IANS.

Party founder Annadurai popularly called Anna was a Rajya Sabha member 1962-67. He was the first DMK chief minister of the state when the party won the 1967 polls. He died of cancer in 1969 and Karunanidhi succeeded him.
