Collector Reviews Water Works in City

VELLORE: Collector Nanthagopal inspected the ongoing water works in the 39, 40 and 41 wards in Vellore city on Sunday.

Accompanied by the officials of the Vellore Corporation, he reviewed the `one-lakh- pipeline work on in Thiagarajapuram to extend water supply from the Ponnai water work to the people of Allapuram. He advised the officials to speed up the work so that water could be supplied to the residents of the city.

Commissioner Janaki Raveendran, zonal officer Kannan and engineers Palani and Senthil were present.

Earlier, the Collector had visited Kodaiyanji village near Vaniyambadi where the Vaniyambadi Municipality was in the process of sinking a borewell at a cost of `7 lakh. The officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), who were present, said that by sinking the borewell, the water availability in the nearby localities would not be affected. At Jolarpet, the Collector inspected the works carried out at a cost of `7 lakh that included mini-motor pump facility at Periyamottur, Chinnakammiyampattu and Yelagiri villages.

Tirupattur Sub-Collector Shilpa Prabhakaran and Vaniyambadi Commissioner Ravi were among others who were present.
