Chain Robbed from Woman Asleep in Home

Express News Service

VELLORE: Seven sovereigns of gold chain was robbed from a 65-year-old woman, who was sleeping in her house in Kavoanoor near Arakkonam, during the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 3.30 am when A Nesamani was fast asleep in her room and her husband Asaiya (70) was sleeping in another room.

The house was located in the dead end of the colony and surrounded by more than 10 houses.

Investigation Officer Delli Babu said,“Something is fishy in the complainant’s  claim. The woman has no injuries around her neck. I wonder how the thief could have robbed the chain from her neck without even a scratch.”

In her complaint Nesamani had said that, she was using the chain for the last 35 years. She doubted that contract workers, who were known to her son, could be behind the incident. However, Investigation Officer Delli Babu said, Nesamani’s suspicion about contract workers was illogical and further investigation would reveal the truth.

A case was registered regarding the incident in the Arakkonam town police station and an inquiry is on
