VELLORE: A 45-year-old functionary of AIADMK  and a resident of Melarani, died of cardiac arrest on Saturday after watching the television news relaying  the judgment by the Bangalore special court against the AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s who was  convicted on the disproportionate assets case. The man was identified as A Settu.

Despite such incidents and sporadic acts of violence on Saturday, normalcy returned to Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts on Sunday.

Roads in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts that were deserted after the news of the conviction broke out on Saturday, were once again busy with traffic.

“No violence reported today. Even the AIADMK cadres, who gathered to take out rally in Vellore, withdrew the protest and dispersed, following directions from their party high command,” said a police official.

After 11 am on Sunday, shops opened for the day’s business in Vellore, Arakkonam, Ambur, Vaniyambadi and other parts of the district.

Similarly the commercial establishments in Arni, Tiruvannamalai, Cheyyar, Vandavasi and Polur in Tiruvannamalai district, opened their shutters on Sunday.
