Cadre Protest in Villupuram, Puducherry

VILLUPURAM / PUDUCHERRY:  AIADMK cadre organised observed fast at various places at the district on Monday condemning the Bangalore court verdict. In Villupuram, the protest was led by Villupuram-North secretary-cum-Rajya Sabha MP Latchumanan. Party town secretary-cum-Villupuram municipality chairman Baskaran, Villupuram parliament constituency MP Rajendiran and several other party officials from the youth wing, students’ wing and traders wing participated. In Kallakuruchi, around 500 were on a hunger strike.

Another 500 fishermen from four fishing villages around Marakkanam stayed away from the sea on Monday and sat on a fast.

Hundreds of AIADMK activists, including legislators A Anbazhagan, Om Sakthi Sekhar, L Periyasamy, A Basker and town Secretary Ravindran, were arrested for resorting to a rail-roko, agitating against the Bangalore court verdict, at the Puducherry Railway Station on Monday.
