Man Turns up at Police Stn With Wife's Chopped Head

COIMBATORE: A day after a man was beheaded in broad daylight at a public park in Villupuram, a similar incident sent shivers down the spines of people in Pollachi.

On Wednesday morning, a 49-year-old man walked into the Vadakkipaalayam police station carrying his wife’s blood-dripping head, shocking the  khaki-clad men and people around.

He introduced himself as Chinnapparaj of Narayanachettipalayam and confessed to have murdered his wife Selvi. Police said he suspecting her fidelity and had done her to death at a coconut grove where both of them were working as farm hands.

Selvi, according to the police, had a relationship with a man who worked with them. After coming to know of it, Chinnapparaj warned her but she refused to listen. This led to frequent fights between the couple who have two children. “On Wednesday morning, the couple had a tiff over the issue following which Chinnapparaj slashed her hip with a sickle used for breaking coconuts. She fell down and he chopped her head in the presence of her paramour at the grove,” said R Ponnaiah, the station sub-inspector. 

Later, Chinnapparaj put her chopped head in a sack and walked about two kilometres to surrender at the Vadakkipaalayam police station. Police registered a murder case and arrested him. He was produced before Pollachi Judicial Magistrate I who remanded him to Coimbatore central prison.
