5 Teachers in Paper Leak Case Get Bail

HOSUR: The Judicial Magistrate here has granted conditional bail to five private school teachers, who were arrested for leaking class XII question paper through WhatsApp.

According to police sources, on March 18, two teachers- Mahendiran and Govindan of Sri Vijay Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School – were arrested for sending the photograph of the mathematics question paper to a few others through Whatsapp. They were invigilators at Parimalam Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Hosur.

Police arrested also two other teachers of the same school – Udayakumar and Karthikeyan – in this regard.  Subsequently, on March 27, the district crime branch police arrested four more teachers Kavitha, Vimal Raj, Michael Raj and Sanjeev Kumar of the same school. Later all the eight were sent to Salem Central Prison.

However on April 9, Hosur Judicial Magistrate Court-II judge K Suresh Kumar, after speaking to the accused over video conferencing, granted conditional bail to Kavitha, Karthikeyan and Udayakumar and extended court custody of remaining five teachers until April 23.

When the case came up for hearing at Hosur Judicial Magistrate Court, the judge K Suresh Kumar granted conditional bail to the remaining five teachers.
