Suresh Chand Tyagi to Head Coast Guard in UT

PUDUCHERRY:  Deputy Inspector General Suresh Chand Tyagi will assume command of the Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters No 13, Union Territory of Puducherry during the second week of September 2015. On relinquishing command, the present Commandant N Somasundaram will take over duties with Indian Regional headquarters (West), Mumbai.

Commandant N Somasundaram was the first commanding officer of the Indian Coast Guard station Puducherry in the year 2006.

The new incumbent, Deputy Inspector General Suresh Chand Tyagi joined Indian Coast Guard on December 28, 1982. In his career spanning 32 years, S C Tyagi has commanded various ICG ships. The officer is a specialist in defence management and has rich experience in search and rescue operations, pollution response and coastal security.
