CPM Demands CBI Inquiry into Flesh Trade Racket

Express News Service

PUDUCHERRY:Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary R Rajangam has sought a CBI inquiry into the child prostitution case, which involved police personnel and influential people.

Recalling the case, the CPM on Friday alleged  there was a delay in dismissing the police officials, who were identified by the victimised child, during an identification parade carried out based on the direction of the Madras High Court.

Even after the racket was busted, last year, there were efforts to save the policemen identified in the parade, Rajangam alleged.

He further said an inquiry into the case was initiated only after agitations by CPM and other organisations, which sought action against the culprits.

He welcomed the decision of dismissal of eight police personnel and said cases of sexual abuse and violence against women and girls were on the rise.
