Express News Service

VELLORE:  A 27-year-old history-sheeter, released on bail, was murdered by his relatives in Aravatrampalli village in Tirupattur division on Tuesday night after the history-sheeter provoked them by pelting stones at them and injuring one of the relatives in the process.

The deceased, idenitified as Vijayakumar, who is a resident of Kajalnaikkenpatti village was charged in connection with a murder a year ago.

According to a police official, he used to run a welding shop in Kajalnaikenpatti village and is a relative of Sasikala.

Vijayakumar had reportedly wanted to marry Sasikala’s daughter three years ago.

Angered over Vijayakumar’s demands, Sasikala arranged the marriage of her daughter to a local named Varadaraj.

Since then Vijayakumar was angry with Sasikala and would create a ruckus in front of Sasikala’s house for no reason for last three years.

Sasikala runs a petty shop in the locality.

On Tuesday night, Vijayakumar had reportedly asked a stranger, a teenage boy, to buy a tobacco product from Sasikala’s shop without giving him the appropriate amount.

Sasikala told the boy that it was not the correct amount. This apparently angered Vijayakumar, who pelted stones at Sasikala’s shop and inflicted injuries on her face. Sasikala along with her mother and son attacked Vijayakumar with a knife and a stick.

He collapsed on the spot and was taken to the Tirupattur Government Hospital by the villagers where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Police arrested Sasikala (40), wife of late Jayaseelan, a resident of Aravatrampalli, her son Vidyasagar (19) and her mother Alamelu.

A case was registered at the Kandili police station. An inquiry is on.

“The trio will be remanded in the Vellore Central Prison for Women  and the Vellore Central Prison for Men on Thursday,” said DSP of Tirupattur, Subramani.
