Slain Kanyakumari Jawan Laid to Rest

NAGERCOIL: The mortal remains of Anish, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir was laid to rest, with full State honours, in his native village near Thiruvattar here, on Saturday.

Anish (22), son of Dharmaraj-Vanaja couple of Ellamavilai near Manalikarai in Thiruvattar, was a sepoy with the Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Indian Army. He was deployed in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, where on July 8 he was killed while on  patrol. The body was flown to Thiruvananthapuram from where it was taken to his village by road on Saturday.

Minister of Handlooms and Textiles S Gokula Indira, Collector Sajjansingh R Chavan, MLAs K T Patchaimal and Nanjil Murugesan visited the bereaved family.
