60 School Students Injured as Bus Topples in Perambalur

At least 60 students studying at a School in Perambalur district were injured when a school bus in which they were travelling toppled.

TIRUCHY:  At least 60 students studying at the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Higher Secondary School in Perambalur district were injured when a school bus in which they were travelling toppled Perambalur on Thursday.

According to police the accident occurred when the bus was proceeding towards the school after picking up students studying from class I to plus two at around  8.30 am.

The bus toppled when the driver, N Rajathi Raja (37)  tried to take the vehicle from Tiruchy - Chennai National highways to the cross cut road which leading to the school near the district Collectorate in Palakarai. Rash driving was said to be the cause for the incident.

All the students in the bus suffered minor injuries while five students studying class nine sustained minor fractures. On information Perambalur police rushed to the spot and sent the students to nearby Dhanalakshmi Hospital. Subsequently police arrested the driver of the vehicle, and investigations are on.
