Mullaiperiyar Panel Takes Stock of Seepage Level

THENI: Five-member sub-committee appointed by the Supreme Court to monitor the Mullaiperiyar dam conducted a routine inspection on Tuesday.

The committee headed by Umberji Harish Girish, Executive Engineer of Central Water Commission (Kochi division), two representatives of Tamil Nadu - Madhavan, EE-PWD, Soundaram, AE-PWD sub-division - and two representatives from Kerala - George Daniel, EE-Periyar Minor Irrigation, Kerala and Praseed, AE of the same department - reached the boat jetty at Thekkady in the morning.

The sub-committee went to the Mullaiperiyar dam in a boat and inspected the dam, Baby dam and the dam tunnel. Also, they checked the seepage level in the dam. Later, they held a meeting at Kumily.
