Congress Seniors Oppose new Appointments

Express News Service

VELLORE: The recent appointment of new office-bearers by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee for Vellore West District has been opposed by a group of party seniors.

S Prabhu, vice president of the district unit claimed that the appointment of Balavaradhan as district-in-charge was made by the TNCC president without the approval of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), which is against the rules and bylaws of the AICC.

To complicate matters, Balavaradhan, the newly appointed in-charge, who has no power, has dissolved the Vellore West District Congress Committee, and violated the AICC rules and norms, Prabhu said.

Claiming that the existing committee members were appointed in 2011 with AICC’s approval, Prabhu said this committee would continue to function until a new district president has been appointed with the approval of the AICC and the existing office bearers and lower rank executives at the town and block levels will continue to discharge their duties, he added.
