Landslides on Kolli Hills

NAMAKKAL:Intermittent showers triggered minor landslide in the Kolli hills affecting traffic movement on the Ghat Road connecting Karavalli, the foothills, to Semmedu in the district here. The 22nd , 23rd and 57th bends witnessed landslide with mud and boulders falling down on the road blocking movement of vehicles on Tuesday, sources said. Officials of government departments including the Revenue and the Highways rushed to the spot and cleared the road making way for movement of vehicles. Trees were uprooted at certain places in the 8th , 16th , 22nd and the 27th bends on the Ghat Road blocking traffic for several hours. The officials swung into action to cut the trees and clear the road, the sources told.
