CUDDALORE: After days of groping in the dark, the Ramanatham police on Saturday claimed to have cracked the murder case of a four-year-old boy with the arrest of a 19-year-old married girl.

On August 23, Nithish (4), son of Murugesan (32) and Sangeetha, of  Sitheri near Ramanatham had gone missing. Even as a massive search was going on, a neighbour found the body of the child with throat slit inside a toilet. On information, a police team, headed by Thittagudi DSP Pandiyan, rushed to the spot. The Ramanatham police registered a case and sent the body for autopsy. Meanwhile, a sniffer dog was brought to the crime scene. The needle of suspicion fell on Parameshwari (19), a neighbour, when the canine reportedly picked up a scent and entered her house.

Sensing that the police were closing in on her, Parameshwari on Friday slit her own wrist. She was rescued by neighbours and admitted in a hospital. On Friday, the police secured Parameshwari at the hospital, where she confessed to the crime.

Thittagudi DSP Pandiyan appreciated the efforts of police team, headed by inspector Rajaram.
