Bee Sting Lands 12 Kariyapattinam Students in Hospital

NAGAPATTINAM: Around 12 school students who were on their way to a government higher secondary school in Kariyapattinam village near Vedaranyam were hospitalised after being stung by a swarm of bees on Saturday. All the 12 victims reported dizziness and were treated at the Kariyapattinam Primary Health Centre and later discharged. According to an eyewitness, on Saturday morning, about 12 school children hailing from Pranthiyankarai and Maharajapuram hamlets were heading to the government school in Kariyapattinam village near Vedaranyam for their morning classes. As the school students walked past Kariyapattinam water plant locality, a swarm of venomous bees (Kathandu) appeared suddenly, attacked and stung the 12 students.
