BENGALURU: A day after the Tamil Nadu government ordered a judicial probe on former chief minister Jayalalithaa's death, AIADMK deputy general secretary Dinakaran has welcomed the move.

Dinakaran was in Bengaluru on Friday to meet V K Sasikala at Central Prisons in Parappana Agrahara. Speaking to reporters, he said that the party welcomed the move.

"This will clear Sasikala's name in the case," he said. On making Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden house a memorial, he said that they (CM and others) were doing it to woo voters. He said the merger of the two AIADMK factions is for a selfish gain. "I have AIADMK MLAs who act like sleeper cells, they can come to my side when needed," he said.

On Thursday, chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami ordered a judicial probe headed by a retired high court judge of the Madras High Court.

J Jayalalitha, 68, passed away due to cardiac arrest on December 5, 2016 in Chennai.
