CHENNAI: Demanding that Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao order the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led government to take a trust vote in the wake of 19 MLAs from the T T V Dhinakaran faction withdrawing support, DMK working president M K Stalin on Tuesday said his party would take a ‘good decision’ after giving due thought to it.
“When the situation arises to hold a trust vote, in order to remove the government that has surrendered the rights of Tamil Nadu at the feet of Delhi, we will take a good decision after deeply analysing the situation,” he told reporters here.
Recalling that the Governor had ordered Palaniswami to take the trust vote in the Assembly when O Panneerselvam and 11 MLAs withdrew their support earlier, he urged him to issue orders to seek confidence vote immediately and convene the Assembly to facilitate it.
Stalin assailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly backing the “corrupt factions” led by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam despite his rhetoric on rooting out corruption. He also shot off a letter to the Governor asking him to direct the chief minister to prove his majority in the House.
