CHENNAI: Tarun Vijay, a former MP, on Thursday said without Dalits as equal partners, India’s development story would be a ‘sham.’
Speaking at an event at Pachaiyappa’s College, he stressed that no Indian dream could be accomplished without Dalit empowerment.
He was honoured by the College Management Committee and trustees for propagating the teachings of saint-poet Thiruvalluvar’s Thirukkural in the north.
Vijay appreciated the resolve of students in the State to save Tamil culture. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schemes were initiatives that will boost economic empowerment. Modi’s vision was empower Dalits, he said.
