Jallikatttu protests hit railway operations from TN to Kerala and Karnataka

MADURAI: The rail blockade over Jallikattu hit the service in Tamil Nadu, with Madurai division alone cancelling 15 passenger trains fully and 12 partially besides diverting two others. These include trains to Karnataka and Kerala.

The blockade by principal opposition DMK on Friday morning -- an extension of the occupation protests staged across the State, caused delays in Southern Railways operations, including suburban rail in Chennai.

Such was the disruption that DMK leader MRK Panneerselvam had to wait for over two hours at Chidambaram station, as no trains could reach there due to the protests en route.
