CHENNAI: As only 2,009 candidates took NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) from Tamil Nadu this year, Anna University is conducting a test for B Arch candidates, called Tamil Nadu Aptitute Test in Architecture (TANATA) 2017 on August 12 in six centres in the State for admission to B Arch degree under management quota and government quota lapsed seats for this year.

Higher Education Secretary Sunil Paliwal said that against the sanctioned number of seats for B Arch, 3,043, only 2009 candidates had taken NATA and so, 1,034 seats were vacant. Therefore, the university has come up with a separate test.

Besides this year's candidates, last year candidates who sat for NATA are also welcome for the test. Both the last year NATA score and this year NATA score will be considered for evaluation. Of the 3,043 seats, 1892 seats are pure government seats and 2,049 seats surrendered from management quota.

The total number of colleges for B Arch is 49 out of which 41 are private architecture colleges and eight colleges have both engineering and architecture.

The online registration for the test will start on July 24 and last date for registration online is July 31.
Candidates can download hall tickets on August 7. Test will be held on August 12 and marks  announced on August 18.
