CHENNAI: The support base for AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran among the 123 MLAs increased to 34 on Wednesday with two more MLAs calling on him at his Adyar residence. V Alexander (Ambattur) and E Rathinasabapathy (Aranthangi) met Dhinakaran and held discussions. Besides, functionaries from a few southern districts also called on him.

Meanwhile, AIADMK (Amma) filed 47,151 affidavits before the Election Commission on Wednesday with regard to the ‘Two Leaves symbol case’.  With this, so far this faction had filed 3.98 lakh affidavits.  Party sources said one lakh more affidavits would be filed on Thursday. By June 16, the last date for filing the affidavits, around 5.5 lakh affidavits would be submitted.

“At present, the AIADMK (Amma) has affidavits of around three lakh more office-bearers,  but could not organise it properly to be submitted to the Commission. Since the hearing on the symbol case is expected only after the presidential election, if the EC gives another opportunity, we will file the rest of three lakh affidavits,” sources said.
