SASTRA presents CNR Rao award to two scientists

As part of the National Science Day celebrations, SASTRA-CNR Rao Award was presented in recognition of outstanding contribution in the fields of chemistry and material science.

THANJAVUR: As part of the National Science Day celebrations on Tuesday, SASTRA-CNR Rao Award was presented to Baldev Raj, Director of National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), and S Chandrasekhar, Director of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, in recognition of their outstanding contribution in the fields of chemistry and material science.

Besides a citation, the scientists were awarded Rs 5 lakh cash prize each.

In his acceptance speech, Baldev Raj said he was humbled and inspired to receive the award. Chandrasekhar said that he dedicates the award to his doctoral students. Advising the students, he said that there was no substitute for hard work and integrity.
