CHENNAI: Income Tax department raids on the aides and relatives of jailed AIADMK leader Sasikala and ousted AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran continued for the third day on Saturday as the ousted party general secretary claimed mere seizures of cash and gold were not proof of irregularities.

Termed as ‘Operation Clean Money Drive’, the raids, which initially covered 187 places, were narrowed down to 40 places on the third day as officials claimed to have found incriminating documents. The operation, which focussed on shell companies, post-demonetisation bank deposits and tax evasion, continued at the house of Vivek Jayaraman, director of Jaya TV and son of Ilavarasi, a relative of Sasikala, and several other places.

Raids were also on at the residence of his sister, Krishna Priya in T Nagar. An unruffled Dhinakaran, whose residence was spared, said he could not vouch for his aides and relatives.
