TIRUNELVELI: Stating that the opposition party can never topple the AIADMK government, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami said here on Sunday that DMK leader M K Stalin was vexed as he was unable to dethrone the current government.

The Chief Minister further asked party cadre to be more vigilant with the DMK, while participating in the birth centenary celebration of former chief minister MG Ramachandran.

Though the government function was arranged to commemorate the achievements of former chief minister MGR’s government, the platform soon paved way for the AIADMK leaders to take a jibe on the DMK.
Both Chief Minister Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam came down heavily on Stalin for showing desperation to overthrow the government.

Addressing the huge gathering of AIADMK cadre, who were taken to the venue by private school buses and vans, Palaniswami said, “Recently, I made a comment stating that myself and O Panneerselvam will work like a double-barrel gun for people’s welfare. You might have witnessed Stalin’s raging response in media. We need to be more cautious with them.”

He also stated that though the present AIADMK government was implementing many pro-people schemes, the opposition would deliberately ignore them. “Those who complained against us will continue to do so. However, they can never make a dent in AIADMK’s steel fort,” he added.

Earlier, Panneerselvam said that DMK’s ‘daydream’ to unseat the AIADMK government would be defeated. “After the demise of MGR, the DMK tried to destroy AIADMK. But it did not happen. Now, after Jayalalithaa’s death, they are once again scheming against us,” he said.

Mocking at Stalin’s ‘Namakku Naame’ tour, he further said, “The inactive president put up an act before the public recently and tried to fool them. He cycled, walked, ran, jumped and drove a tractor. He also inspected a sugarcane farm by walking on a cemented path. He even drank tea at a roadside shop. Let me tell one thing. I once ran a tea shop.”
