CHENNAI: Upping its ante against the State government, State BJP spokesperson SR Sekar on Friday unleashed a tirade against the government headed by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami by charging that “there is corruption in every iota of this government.”

Sekar made this serious charge during a debate in a television channel.  Significantly, the spokesperson of the ruling faction of the AIADMK, R Selvaraj, who was also present in the debate, got angry and retaliated, saying “the Central government is responsible for ruining the economy of the country.”
“Can anyone go to a tahsildar office and get things done by filing a petition without spending anything for that? You can pose this question to any layman in Tamil Nadu.

Definitely, in every iota of the government and every move of the government, there is corruption,” Sekar said during the debate.

By way of countering the attack, Selvaraj hurled a charge against the Central government, “During 2014-15, the NPA of the banks stood at 2.03 lakh crore. Now, it has gone up to `8 lakh crore.  What is the reason for this? Indian economy has been buried deep.”

After Governor Banwarilal Purohit reviewed the State schemes with officials at Coimbatore a couple of days ago, BJP leaders in the State have been levelling charges against the State government.
