The father of a 7-year-old Chennai girl who was sexually assaulted and murdered in her apartment was threatened by the alleged killer.

CDS Babu, the father of Hasini, has filed a police complaint with the Chengalpattu town police against the suspect Dhasvanth for threatening him and his family on Monday, reports The Newsminute.

"I was just outside the court. I saw him standing there, he was speaking on the mobile. Suddenly, he came towards me. He whispered that I should not come to court again. And if I do, he would kill me and my son”, said Babu as quoted by The Newsminute.

It was not the first time Babu was threatened by the accused. Earlier too, Dhasvanth had tried to provoke him.

“After the hearing, we were all standing outside. He was on a bike wearing a helmet, and he came near me and repeated the threat. I was rattled. Will he really harm my son?”, asked the father who was forced to shift his family to Andhra Pradesh due to the threat.

“He threatened me again saying that he should never see me again at Chengalpattu or else he will go to Andhra,” reads the complaint.

Though the complaint was made, police have not filed the FIR yet. However, the police have informed Dhasvanth’s counsel regarding the complaint.

According to The Newsminute, “On Tuesday morning, his counsel submitted a petition to court that the accused (Dhasvanth) was intimidated by the father,” said Kannadasan, Babu's lawyer.

The 7-year-old girl Hasini was found murdered in her apartment complex in Chennai’s Mugalivakkam in February.

The girl was allegedly lured and sexually assaulted by Dhasvanth who resided in the same complex. The accused then allegedly murdered and burnt her body.

The 22-year-old mechanical engineer was arrested and detained under Goondas Act. However, Madras High Court revoked  Dhasvanth's detention.

Further, Mahila Court in Chengalpet had granted him bail in September.

The Mahila Court has framed charges against the accused and the trial on Hasini's murder will begin on December 5.
