Leopardess gets electrocuted after coming into contact with live wire in Tamil Nadu

Investigations are on to find out the reason for snapping of the line, since construction of a big building is in progress nearby.

UDHAGAMANDALAM: In a tragic incident, a two-year-old leopardess was electrocuted after coming into contact with live wire at Onnathalai in Nilgiri north forest division on Wednesday evening.

A forest official said that the incident happened when the electric high tension cable was disconnected following a heavy wind accompanied by rain.

As the power house received calls about snapping of an high tension line and power cut in the area, the linemen rushed to the spot and found the animal entangled in the wire and the carcass charred, police said.

Investigations are on to find out the reason for snapping of the line, since construction of a big building is in progress nearby, police added. Postmortem of the animal is also being done.
