Cauvery issue: Opposition parties to go into huddle on Thursday to chalk out next course of action

CHENNAI: Even as protests are raging across Tamil Nadu, the opposition parties are going to sit together on Thursday to draw strategy for next course of action on Cauvery River water sharing issue.

DMK working president and Leader of Opposition MK Stalin on Wednesday said, "We are going to hold all party meeting tomorrow to discuss next course of action,".

The date for taking out Cauvery Rights Retrieval March will be decided in the meeting, he said at Chennai airport. 

It may be noted that the opposition-sponsored dawn-to-dusk bandh is to be observed on Thursday. The parties are bracing up for making the bandh a huge success.

Meanwhile, the DMK and its allies and friendly parties staged protests across the State on Wednesday.

In Chennai, several DMK MLAs courted arrest when staging road and rail blockade stir.

Tension prevailed in Koyambedu when protesters barged into the Metro Rail station premises to block trains, despite police's bid to stop them by placing barricades.

CPI State secretary R Mutharasan led his party men at Basin Bridge to block trains and subsequently courted arrest.
