CHENNAI: Justice Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani who was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on Sunday, became the third woman Chief Justice succeeding Indira Banerjee.
Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office to the new Chief Justice at a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. Justice Tahilramani, who was the acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, was recently appointed Chief Justice of Madras High Court, after former Chief Justice Indira Banerjee was elevated to Supreme Court.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, along with Banerjee and the judges of the Madras High Court attended the swearing-in ceremony. A team of 11 judges from the Bombay High Court were also present at the event.
