CHENNAI: A day prior to film maker Kamal Haasan launching a political party, DMK working president MK Stalin on Tuesday took a jibe apparently aimed at actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.
In his customary epistle to party cadre, he sought to dismiss the political plunge of both the film stars as ‘seasonal’ and said it would not stand the test of time unlike DMK which had been built on rock foundation.

“Whenever the season changes, a few flowers will suddenly bloom, then will wither away. Similarly, attractive paper flowers can bloom in Tamil Nadu’s political arena, but they cannot be fragrant at all,” he said.

Pointing out that DMK was a long-grown, vital crop for sustenance, he said crores of party cadre played the role of a fence protecting the crop.

He also sought to drive home a point saying that no force could shake DMK  as long as a  sense of oneness among cadre and the family-like bondage continued to rule the minds.

Actor Kamal Haasan, who called on Stalin’s father and DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Sunday at his Gopalapuram residence, retorted saying he was not a flower to wither away but a seed to germinate.
Replying to a question on Stalin’s comments, he told reporters at Madurai, “I am not a flower (to wither away), but a seed to grow.”

It may be noted that Kamal said after meeting Karunanidhi that DMK leaders had to understand what his principles were and sit down with him for discussion before exploring any possibilities for a future tie-up.
