NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to give an urgent hearing to a plea filed by the families of the Tuticorin victims, seeking a direction to allow a doctor of their choice in the medical board to be constituted to conduct post mortem on the six deceased.
A vacation bench said, ''We would hear it later after July 1.'' Headed by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel and also comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan, the bench did not specify or give any date as to when it would hear the matter.
The appeal was filed by the relatives of the dead victims. Two other petitions were also filed seeking action against the SP and other police officers allegedly involved in the Tuticorin firing incident case.
The petitions also sought compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family members of the deceased persons and Rs 25 lakh to the injured persons.
