COIMBATORE: After Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report on the investigation of the suicide of the Tiruchengode DSP Vishnupriya, her parents filed an objection petition in the court demanding to inquire seven persons, including her friends.

They reiterated that she committed suicide only because of the abetment by her higher officials in Namakkal district.

Vishnupriya, who was investigating the sensational murder case of dalit youth Gukulraj, was found hanging at her residence in Tiruchengode in 2015. As the suicide note purportedly left by her hinted at the work stress, the state government ordered a CB-CID investigation.

The case was later transferred to the CBI. After three years of investigation, CBI DSP R Ravi filed a closure report before a Coimbatore court stating that it was merely a case of suicide and ruled out larger conspiracy. However, the court summoned Vishnupriya’s parents to put forth their views.

After perusing the report, her parents filed an objection to the closure report and pleaded the court to inquire into the matter and to arrive at a decision in accordance with the law.
On Thursday, lawyer P R Arulmozhi filed the objection plea on behalf of Vishnupriya’s parents. Accepting the plea, the judge posted the matter for hearing on November 1.
