CHENNAI : Tamil Nadu government on Saturday placed a detailed submission before the National Green Tribunal (NGT)-appointed three-member independent committee that is looking into the Sterlite case.
Sources said the government stood firm in its stand to close Sterlite at Thoothukudi.

The panel  has finished hearing Sterlite counsel and interveners. “On Saturday, it was all about the government placing on record various violations committed by Sterlite,” a TNPCB official said. Meanwhile, Sterlite counsel Aryama Sundaram told mediapersons after the day’s hearing that the government had not submitted any material evidence to prove Sterlite violated any norms or caused pollution. “We will respond on Sunday,” he said.
