MADURAI:  In a surprising incident, the mark sheet of a Class 12 student showed 'fail' in four subjects despite the girl scoring 514/600 in the board examination. According to sources, A Aarthi, a private candidate, secured 92 in English, 75 in Physics, 71 in Chemistry, 82 in Biology, and 56 in Mathematics, while the mark sheet erroneously said she had failed in these subjects. The mark sheet also said she got 138/100 marks in Tamil, sources added.

Speaking to TNIE, A Aarthi said she is happy with the marks, but expressed concern over the confusing result. She urged the authorities of the School Education department to intervene in the issue and deliver justice to her.

Speaking to TNIE, Chief Educational Officer K Karthiga said she doesn't know why the student's mark sheet has come out in this manner. "I immediately contacted the student and got the details. She wrote the examination following the old syllabus, where the scores for each subject are marked out of 200. Reports have been submitted to the Director of Government Examinations. They will look into the issue and rectify it before she receives the original mark sheet," she said.
