Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko injured in car crash; father killed on spot

DHARMAPURI: Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko sustained serious injuries in a road accident near Paraiyur in Palacode on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway on Friday morning. Tragically, his father, CP Chacko, was killed on the spot.

According to police sources, the 41-year-old actor from Thrissur was en route to Bengaluru with his family for a medical checkup for his father when their car collided with a lorry near Paraiyur. The vehicle, reportedly driven by Shine's manager Anise, crashed into a truck that had suddenly veered into their lane.

The impact of the collision killed CP Chacko instantly. Shine Tom Chacko, his brother Joe John Chacko, their mother, and the driver Anise sustained injuries and were initially treated at the Palacode Government Hospital. They were later transferred to the Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital for further care.

Visuals from the accident site showed the front of the car completely mangled, indicating the severity of the collision.

Police confirmed that the lorry had swerved abruptly, causing the accident. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

The body of CP Chacko was moved to the Dharmapuri Government Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Shine Tom Chacko was recently in the headlines after being arrested in April under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was booked for consumption of narcotics, abetment, and criminal conspiracy, but was later released on bail.
