SIVAGANGA: Countering remarks made by DMK president and Chief Minister M K Stalin terming him a ‘complete sanghi’, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami displayed a picture of former DMK supremo M Karunanidhi and former minister Murasoli Maran with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and questioned whether it meant Karunanidhi and Maran were also ‘sanghis’.

Speaking at a campaign meeting on Wednesday, countering another remark made by Stalin that he had blood on his hands, Palaniswami referred to the death of Madapuram temple security guard Ajithkumar allegedly at the hands of police, and said chief minister’s hands are “blood-stained”.

Citing incidents of ganja peddlers attacking public, Palaniswami said, “Women and children do not feel safe under DMK rule. Police are unable to control ganja menace because peddlers are linked to DMK men.

This is how the law and order situation is in the state and the chief minister must take responsibility.” In Pudukkottai, taking a dig at Senthil Balaji, EPS said the CM is praising him now whereas in the past he made several serious allegations against him.

Ambulance interruptions

As he was speaking in Sivaganga, three ambulances reached in quick succession. Palaniswami directed the crowd to give way for the vehicles even as he voiced suspicion that it was an attempt of DMK to disrupt his campaign. A 27-year-old man Arumugam of Mela Theru in Madagupatti was knocked down by an escort vehicle of Palaniswami while he was on his way to Pudukkottai.
