Tourist falls into 150-ft-deep Ooty gorge in selfie bid

NILGIRIS: Nilgiris District Forest Department and the Army personnel are trying to rescue a youth who fell into the 150-foot-deep Oosimalai Valley on Thursday.

Sivagurunathan from Chengalpattu district slipped and fell into the deep valley while taking a selfie, according to police sources. He had gone sightseeing to the Oosimalai viewpoint located on the Ooty–Gudalur road on Thursday.

Upon receiving information, the personnel from the fire and rescue services department reached the spot and searched for him. But they returned in as night fell.
