The trio were administered the oath of office and secrecy by chief secretary Rajeev Sharma. They will hold the office for a period of five years or till they attain the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.

Khan, who  hails from Asifabad in Adilabad district, had served earlier as deputy secretary (energy) of the Planning Commission and as member of Bihar State Electricity Regulatory Commission.  Srinivasulu and Manohar Reddy hail from Nizamabad district.

Interacting with mediapersons later, Khan said he felt very proud to become the first chairman of TSERC. Asked about the tariff, he said the system had to be put in place and the regulations reworked first.
