Marri Cries Foul over Deletion of Voters

Express News Service

HYDERABAD:Senior Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy has alleged that the TRS has hatched a deep-rooted conspiracy to delete the names of voters, especially settlers from Seemandhra, who have settled in the city and are expected to vote against the TRS in GHMC and Sanathnagar Assembly elections.

Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, Shashidhar Reddy said so far 17,40,284 votes in Hyderabad district and 1,31,135 votes in Sanathnagar Assembly segment have been marked for deletion on the grounds of ‘shifted’ or ‘door-locked’.

This was nothing but denying them the right to vote, Shashidhar Reddy said. The names were deleted taking the advantage of linking the voter ID with Aadhar card, which was subsequently discontinued.

“This is very shocking. No one has a clue as to whose names figured in the deleted list. I have requested the Election Commission officials to upload the names of these voters marked for deletion on the website of the CEO. But, still there is no action on this,” Shashidhar Reddy said.

Shashidhar Reddy, who is the likely candidate in case of byelection to Sanathnagar Assembly segment following MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav of the TDP joining TRS, demanded that the names of voters, especially settlers from Seemandhra should not be deleted.

Shashidhar Reddy said  that he would meet Chief Election Commissioner  soon in Delhi.
